Glencore needed a high-capacity wireless network to connect multiple operational sites — EPL, WPL, Wonderkop Smelter, and K4 — to the main backhaul link at Shofar Tower. However, there was no direct line-of-sight (LOS) between the tower and the target sites, and the rugged terrain offered limited access to grid power. Maintaining high uptime and low latency was essential for continuous mining operations.

To overcome the LOS limitations, Shofar Royal Technologies constructed a new intermediate relay tower at Bakenkop. The tower operates entirely on solar power and links Shofar Tower with all Glencore sites through a high-performance wireless network. The design eliminated dependence on grid power while delivering carrier-grade reliability and uptime.
